School District 81 (Fort Nelson) Anti-Racism Action Plan
School District 81 (Fort Nelson) is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and responsive learning environment that supports the well-being and success of every student.
We recognize that Indigenous, Black, and other racialized students and staff may face systemic barriers within the education system. As a district, we are taking active steps to build equitable learning environments where all voices are valued and respected.
In alignment with the B.C. K–12 Anti-Racism Action Plan launched in January 2023, our district is working to implement key actions that address racism in education.
The provincial Action Plan outlines six core areas for meaningful change:
- Community Voice
- Removing Barriers
- Raising Awareness
- Collaborative Change
- Capacity Building
- School Support
These priorities guide our ongoing efforts to listen, learn, and lead in partnership with students, families, staff, and the wider community.
Our goal is to empower everyone in our school communities to recognize and respond to racism and discrimination. Through education, dialogue, and systemic change, we are committed to dismantling racism and creating schools where every learner feels welcomed, safe, and supported—regardless of their background.
